Careproctus furcellus es un pez de la familia Liparidae.^[1] Fue descripto por Charles Henry Gilbert y Charles Victor Burke en 1912.^[2]

Esta especie marina puede crecer hasta 54 centímetros de longitud. Es depredado por el halibut negro de Groenlandia Reinhardtius hippoglossoides.^[3] Vive entre los 98 y 1270 metros de profundidad; se encuentra frente a las costas de Kushiro, en Japón, también en el mar de Ojotsk y mar de Bering.^[4]

Careproctus furcellus es batidemersal e inofensivo para el ser humano.^[4]
